What is Shala Samvad?

Shala Samvad is the student-facing part of Shala Darpan. It is where students and parents can view academic records without going to the school. The portal shows report cards, progress reports, attendance, and school details. It is free to use and works on both the website and the mobile app.

Shala Darpan is a portal run by the Rajasthan government that stores school and student data. Shala Samvad is the part of that system built for students and parents. It pulls data directly from school records, so what you see matches what the school has entered. The portal is available in Hindi and English.

To use Shala Samvad, you need one of these: the student's NIC ID, a registered mobile number, or a Jan Aadhaar number. You also need the student's date of birth as it appears in the school records. Without one of these three identifiers, you cannot log in.

Who can use it

  • Students enrolled in government schools in Rajasthan.
  • Parents whose children are enrolled in government schools.

Private school students use RajPSP instead. See our Shala Darpan vs RajPSP comparison.

Students in classes 1 through 12 who attend any government school in Rajasthan have records on Shala Darpan. This includes students in aided schools that follow the state board curriculum. If you are not sure whether your school is covered, ask your class teacher or check the school's name in the official portal.

How to log in

You can log in with one of three methods. All three require the student's date of birth as a second step.

  1. Open the portal

Go to rajshaladarpan.rajasthan.gov.in. Click "Shala Samvad" or "शाला संवाद."

  2. Choose login method

Select NIC ID, mobile number, or Jan Aadhaar number. Enter the number. The NIC ID is the 12-digit Student NIC ID assigned by the school. The mobile number must be the one registered with the school or linked to the Jan Aadhaar. The Jan Aadhaar number is the 12-digit family ID from your Jan Aadhaar card.

  3. Enter date of birth

Type the student's date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format. Fill the captcha. The date of birth must match exactly what the school entered in the system. If it does not match, you will get an error even if the rest of the information is correct.

  4. View report card

After verification, the report card opens. You can view, download, or print it. The report card appears as a PDF file that you can save to your phone or computer.

How students find their NIC ID

The Student NIC ID is a 12-digit number that the school assigns when it registers the student on Shala Darpan. It is not the same as an Aadhaar number. Here are ways to find it:

  • Check your passing certificate or mark sheet. The NIC ID is usually printed on these documents.
  • Ask your class teacher. They can look it up through the School Window.
  • If you have a previous report card from Shala Darpan, the NIC ID may appear on it.
  • Parents can check the Jan Aadhaar card if the student is linked to it. The student's NIC ID may show up in the Jan Aadhaar family details.

Without the NIC ID, you can still log in using a registered mobile number or Jan Aadhaar number. But having the NIC ID makes it easier to find the right student record, especially in families with multiple children.

How parents can view their children's records

Parents have two options for viewing records:

Option 1: Use Jan Aadhaar number. If your children are linked to your Jan Aadhaar, you can log in with the Jan Aadhaar number and see all linked children at once. After logging in, you will see a list of your children. Click on any name to view that child's report card. You can switch between children without logging out.

Option 2: Use individual NIC ID. If your children are not linked to your Jan Aadhaar, you can log in with each child's NIC ID and date of birth separately. This works but means you have to log in and out for each child.

For Option 1 to work, the school must have linked your children to your Jan Aadhaar through the School Window. If only some of your children appear after you log in, the others may not be linked yet. Ask the school to update the linking.

Parents can also view the following for each child:

  • Class and section details
  • School name and address
  • Enrollment year
  • Transfer status if a transfer is in progress

What you can see

Shala Samvad features
FeatureWhat it shows
Report cardMarks, grades, and teacher comments for each exam. Includes subject-wise scores, total marks, and grade points.
Progress reportYear-over-year academic progress. Shows how the student's performance changed across terms.
AttendanceDaily attendance record. Shows days present, days absent, and attendance percentage.
School detailsSchool name, address, class, and section.
Transfer statusIf the student has a pending transfer, it shows here. Includes the date of transfer and the new school name if available.

Parent view vs student view

The parent view and the student view show the same data for a single child, but the parent view has a few differences:

  • Parent view: Shows all children linked to the Jan Aadhaar. Parents can switch between children from a dropdown menu. Parents see additional details like school address and enrollment year.
  • Student view: Shows only the logged-in student's own record. There is no option to switch between students. Students see their own marks, attendance, and report cards.

If a parent logs in with a child's NIC ID instead of the Jan Aadhaar, the view looks the same as the student view. To get the full parent view with all children, you need to log in with the Jan Aadhaar number.

Common problems and solutions

Report card not showing

The school may not have uploaded it yet. Schools upload report cards after the exam results are declared. Wait for the result date. If results are out but still not showing, tell your school head. Ask them to check whether the data has been saved in the School Window.

NIC ID not found

Ask your class teacher. They can look it up in the School Window. The ID is also on your passing certificate. If you do not have the passing certificate, try logging in with your registered mobile number or Jan Aadhaar number instead.

Date of birth mismatch

The DOB must match exactly what is in the system. Check for typos. If the date of birth in your documents is different from what the school entered, contact your school head. They can correct it in the School Window.

Only one child showing (parent view)

Not all children are linked to the Jan Aadhaar. Ask the school to link the missing children through the School Window. This usually takes a few days to update in the system.

App not working

Try the website instead. The mobile app sometimes has issues on older phones. If both the app and website are down, the server may be under maintenance. Check updates for maintenance notices. Try again after a few hours.

Captcha not loading

Refresh the page. If the captcha image does not appear, check your internet connection. On slow connections, it may take a few seconds to load. Clearing your browser cache can also help.

Wrong marks shown

If you believe the marks on the report card are wrong, contact your class teacher. They can check the original marks in the School Window. If the school made an error, they can update the record.

Cannot print the report card

Make sure your browser allows pop-ups for the Shala Darpan site. Some browsers block the print dialog. Try right-clicking on the report card and selecting "Save as PDF" instead.
