Shala Darpan has several service windows, each built for a different group of users. This page explains what each service does, who uses it, how to get in, and what to watch out for.

Services for parents and citizens (no login needed)

Anyone can use these services without creating an account. They are the most accessible part of the portal.

School search

Find any government school in Rajasthan by name, district, block, or school code. The search pulls up the school's address, UDISE code, management type (state government, aided, or model school), and how many teachers and students are enrolled. Parents often use this to check a school's details before admitting their child, or to find the nearest school when they move to a new area.

You can search at school search or directly on the official portal. The search works best when you filter by district first, then narrow down by block or school name.

Check results

View Class 5th and 8th board results for any student. You need the student's roll number, district, and exam year. The results page shows subject-wise marks, total marks, and pass/fail status. Parents, students, and relatives all use this service on result day.

Results are available only on the day they are declared by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education. The portal can slow down or go down under heavy traffic on result day. Try again after a few minutes if the page does not load. See results guide for a step-by-step walkthrough.

UDISE code lookup

Every school in India has a unique UDISE (Unified District Information System for Education) code. This 11-digit number identifies the school in national education databases. Parents sometimes need it for admission forms, scholarship applications, or transfer paperwork. You can look up any school's UDISE code through the school search or read more at UDISE explained.

School details

After you find a school through the search, you can view its full profile. This includes the complete address, school category (primary, upper primary, secondary, or senior secondary), management type, year the school was established, number of sanctioned and working teacher posts, and student enrollment by class. The information is updated periodically by the school administration.

Services for students and parents (Shala Samvad login required)

These services need a Shala Samvad login, which is linked to the student's Jan Aadhaar. Only parents or guardians with a Jan Aadhaar can access these.

Shala Samvad (report cards and progress)

Shala Samvad is the parent-student communication window. After logging in, you can view report cards for each exam period, progress reports that compare a student's performance across terms, and teacher comments where available. The report cards show marks by subject, grades, attendance percentage, and overall rank in the class.

Read the full guide at Shala Samvad. If you have trouble logging in, check that your Jan Aadhaar is linked to the student's record first. Unlinked accounts are the most common reason parents cannot access report cards.

Jan Aadhaar linking

To use parent services on the portal, the student's record must be linked to a Jan Aadhaar number. This connects the student's school data to the family's Jan Aadhaar profile. You can link or check the status through the Jan Aadhaar linking service. If a student changes schools, the Jan Aadhaar link carries over since the student's record stays in the system.

See Jan Aadhaar linking for instructions on how to link and what to do if the system shows a mismatch between names or dates of birth.

Attendance view

Check a child's daily attendance record. The system updates attendance when the school marks it in the portal, usually at the end of each school day. You can see dates when the student was present, absent, or on leave. This is useful for tracking patterns, and some scholarship schemes require a minimum attendance percentage.

Scholarship status

Track the status of scholarship applications submitted through the portal. The system shows whether the application is pending at the school level, forwarded to the district, or approved. Rajasthan runs several scholarship schemes for SC, ST, OBC, and minority students. The portal lists eligibility and required documents. Visit scholarship schemes for details on each scheme.

Services for school staff (Staff Window login)

Teachers and non-teaching staff use the Staff Window. You need your NIC-SD ID and password to log in. If you do not know your NIC-SD ID, see NIC-SD ID lookup.

Staff login

The Staff Window is the main entry point for all teacher services. After logging in, you see a dashboard with links to your profile, transfer application, training records, and salary information. The login page is at staff login.

Staff details

View and update your professional profile. This includes your name, date of birth, educational qualifications, subjects you teach, date of joining, and current school. Some fields can be edited by the teacher, while others (like date of joining) can only be updated by the school administrator. Keeping your profile current matters for transfer applications and promotion consideration.

See staff details for what fields you can edit and which ones need school admin approval.

Transfer application

Apply for a transfer to another school during the transfer window. The transfer window opens once a year, usually for a few weeks, and the dates are announced by the Directorate of Elementary Education. You submit your application online through the Staff Window, choose your preferred schools, and upload any required documents. The system then processes applications based on seniority, vacancy, and other rules.

Read transfer application for a full walkthrough. Important: the window closes on a fixed date, and late applications are not accepted. Check the updates page for current transfer window dates.

NIC-SD ID lookup

Your NIC-SD ID is your unique employee code in the Shala Darpan system. You need it to log into the Staff Window, apply for transfers, and access salary information. If you have lost your ID or do not know it, you can look it up using your name and school details. See NIC-SD ID lookup for the process.

Training records

View completed and pending professional development training. Rajasthan requires teachers to complete a set number of training hours each year. The portal tracks which training programs you have finished, your attendance at each, and any certificates earned. This record is checked during annual performance reviews and promotion evaluations.

Salary and pay slip

Download your monthly pay slip from the Staff Window. The pay slip shows your basic pay, allowances, deductions, and net salary. You can view past pay slips by selecting the month and year. Teachers use this for loan applications, tax filing, and personal records. If there is a discrepancy in your pay slip, raise a ticket through the school administrator.

Services for school administrators (School Window login)

The School Window is for headmasters, principals, and designated school administrators. It has the broadest set of data entry and reporting tools. You need the school's login credentials, which are provided by the district education office.

School login

The School Window dashboard gives access to student enrollment, staff management, report generation, and transfer requests. The login page is at school login. Each school has one primary login. The headmaster can create additional user accounts for staff members who need limited access, such as a clerk who handles enrollment data.

Student enrollment

Register new students, update existing records, and manage student transfers in and out of the school. When a new student is enrolled, the administrator enters their name, date of birth, parent details, Aadhaar number (if available), and class. The system generates a student ID that follows the student if they move to another school. Updating records is important: if a student's details are wrong, it can cause problems with results, scholarships, and Jan Aadhaar linking.

See student enrollment for step-by-step instructions.

Staff management

Update teacher records, mark staff attendance, and manage leave records. The school administrator is responsible for keeping staff data current. When a new teacher joins, add their record to the system. When a teacher leaves (transfer, retirement, or resignation), update their status. Accurate staff data affects school reports sent to the education department.

Report generation

Generate school-level reports for the education department. These reports cover student enrollment by class and category, attendance statistics, staff vacancies, and infrastructure details. The reports are submitted periodically to the district and state education offices. Most reports are auto-generated from the data already in the system, so keeping enrollment and staff data current is important.

Transfer requests

Initiate transfer applications for staff members at your school. While teachers apply through the Staff Window, the school administrator verifies the application and forwards it. The administrator also checks for any discrepancies between the teacher's profile and the school's records before forwarding. This step is required before the transfer request enters the district-level processing queue.

How to access services

Each service window has its own login. The table below shows which login you need for each group of services:

Go to Login Guide for a detailed walkthrough of each login type. If you are a parent and do not have a Jan Aadhaar, you will need to get one first before you can access student-related services.

Portal vs mobile app

The Shala Darpan mobile app covers the most common services, but not all of them. The table below shows what is available on each platform:

Portal vs app comparison
FeaturePortal (website)Mobile app
ResultsYesYes
Report cardsYesYes
Staff loginYesLimited (profile view only)
Transfer applicationYesNo

Teachers who need to apply for transfers or update their full profile should use the portal website on a desktop or laptop. The mobile app works well for parents who mainly want to check results and report cards.

Service availability and maintenance

The portal is not always available. Here is what affects availability:

  • Regular maintenance windows: The portal usually goes offline for maintenance during late night or early morning hours, typically between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM IST. Some maintenance windows are longer and are announced in advance on the portal.
  • Result day traffic: On Class 5th and 8th result days, the portal often slows down or becomes temporarily unavailable due to high traffic. This usually clears up within a few hours. If you cannot access results right away, try again later in the day.
  • Transfer window: The transfer application service is open only during a fixed period each year, usually announced 2 to 3 weeks before the window opens. Outside this period, the transfer section is not accessible.
  • Enrollment deadlines: Student enrollment has cutoff dates at the start of each academic year. After the deadline, you cannot add new students until the next cycle.
  • Scholarship application deadlines: Each scholarship scheme has its own application window. Once the deadline passes, the application link is removed from the portal.

Check updates for current maintenance schedules and service status announcements.
