Shala Darpan vs RajPSP: What is the Difference?
Rajasthan has two separate education portals. One for government schools, one for private schools. Here is how to tell them apart.
Written by Gautami Bandopadhyay, founder of Shala Darpan Guide.
Two portals, two systems
Rajasthan has two separate portals for school education. Shala Darpan handles government and aided schools. RajPSP handles private and self-financed schools. They do not share data. A student moving from a government school to a private one will have records on both systems, split across the two portals.
Knowing which portal applies to you saves time. You avoid logging into the wrong site, calling the wrong helpdesk, or looking for records that are stored somewhere else entirely.

When to use Shala Darpan
Shala Darpan is the main portal for government schools in Rajasthan. If your child studies in a government school, this is where you go for most things: exam results, Jan Aadhaar linking, state scholarships, transfer orders, and staff records.
Aided schools also use Shala Darpan. An aided school is one that gets government funding but is run by a private trust or management. The school code for these institutions is an NIC-SD code, same as fully government schools. If your school receives aid from the state, it is almost certainly on Shala Darpan.
Teachers at government and aided schools use the Shala Darpan Staff Window. Your NIC-SD ID works only on this portal. It will not work on RajPSP.
When to use RajPSP
RajPSP is for private and self-financed schools. These are schools that do not receive government funding. They manage their own admissions, fees, and exam results through the RajPSP portal.
If your school has a PSP code (not an NIC-SD code), it is on RajPSP. Teachers at these schools log in to RajPSP staff login with credentials that are separate from Shala Darpan. A NIC-SD ID will not work here.
Some private schools are not registered on either portal. Unregistered schools may operate without any portal affiliation. If your school does not appear on either Shala Darpan or RajPSP, contact the school management to find out their registration status.
How to find which portal your school uses
There are a few ways to check:
Ask the school directly. The front office or administration can tell you which portal they use. This is the fastest way.
Check the school code. Every registered school has a code. If the code is an NIC-SD code, the school is on Shala Darpan. If it is a PSP code, the school is on RajPSP. You can find your school's code on the admission form, report card, or school notice board.
Use the school search. The school search tool on this site lets you look up government schools by name, code, or district. The Citizen Window also lets you search for schools and staff without logging in.
Try the official portals. Go to rajshaladarpan.rajasthan.gov.in and search for your school. If it does not appear, try rajpsp.nic.in.
Government vs private school differences
The portals exist because government and private schools in Rajasthan operate under different rules. Government schools follow state board syllabi, use government-appointed teachers, and report to the Department of Education. Private schools set their own fees (within norms), hire their own staff, and have more independence in how they run.
This affects you as a parent or teacher in practical ways:
Government school parents deal mostly with Shala Darpan for results, transfers, and scholarships. Private school parents deal with RajPSP for similar things, but the processes and forms are different.
Teachers at government schools get transfer orders through Shala Darpan. Private school teachers handle transfers through their school management, outside the portal system.
Scholarship schemes differ too. State government scholarships for SC, ST, OBC, and other categories are handled through Shala Darpan. Private schools may have their own scholarship programs or participate in central government schemes through different channels.
What if I am not sure?
Ask your school. They will tell you which portal they use. You can also check the school's code type. If it is an NIC-SD code, the school is on Shala Darpan. If it is a PSP code, it is on RajPSP. Use the school search to check.
Another sign: if your school's results appear on the Rajasthan board result site for Class 5 or Class 8, the school is likely on Shala Darpan. RajPSP schools handle their own exam results.
Common confusions and how to solve them
"I logged in but my school is not there." You are probably on the wrong portal. If your school is a government school, make sure you are on rajshaladarpan.rajasthan.gov.in, not rajpsp.nic.in. The two sites look similar but serve different schools.
"My child's old results are not showing." If your child moved from a government school to a private one (or the other way around), the old results stay on the first portal. The new school's results appear on the second portal. You need to check both sites.
"My NIC-SD ID does not work on RajPSP." That is expected. Your NIC-SD ID is tied to Shala Darpan. RajPSP has its own staff login system with separate credentials. Contact your school administration to get RajPSP login details.
"The school says they use Shala Darpan but I can only find them on RajPSP." This is rare, but it happens when a school changes status (for example, from private to aided). The records may be split. Ask the school which portal is currently active for them.
"I need a transfer certificate." Transfer certificates come from the school you are leaving, not from the portal. But the portal may have the record of your enrollment. For government schools, check Shala Darpan. For private schools, check RajPSP.
What to do when records are split across portals
This happens when a student transfers between a government school and a private school. The old school's records stay on one portal. The new school's records start on the other. There is no way to merge them into a single view.
Here is what to do:
Keep copies of important documents from both schools. Report cards, transfer certificates, and admission receipts should be saved by the parent, not just the school.
When applying for the next school, bring records from both portals. The new school may need the old report card (from the first portal) and the transfer certificate (from the school, not the portal).
If you need to verify old records, contact the previous school directly. The portal may not have everything, especially for older academic years.
For scholarship applications that require a full academic history, you may need to request records from both portals or from the schools themselves. Start this process early, as it can take time.
Can I use both portals at the same time?
A school is registered on one portal only. But a family can have children on both portals if some children attend government schools and others attend private schools. Each child's records live on the portal that matches their school type.
As a parent, you may need accounts on both portals if you have children in different types of schools. The login credentials for each portal are separate.
